About Dr. Cyndi

Dr. Cyndi Matthews is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), LPC-Supervisor (LPC-S), and Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) specializing in individual, couples, and family therapy, and maintains a private practice in Garland, Texas.

With over 15 years experience as a counselor, and as a graduate of Texas A&M University - Commerce, specializing in Cognitive Behavioral therapy, Adlerian therapy, Couples and family therapy, she is currently serving as private practitioner working with a broad spectrum of clients. Among her areas of expertise are counseling with LGBT Issues/Gender Identity, Depression/Anxiety/Stress, Addiction, Religious Abuse & Cult Recovery, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Sexual, Emotional, & and Physical Abuse, Anger Management, Domestic Violence, Sex Therapy, Premarital Counseling, Communication Skills, and Relationship Effectiveness. 

In addition to being a prominent therapist, Dr. Cyndi has presented at International, National, and Regional/Local conferences and to general audiences speaking on the topics of relationships, healing from spiritual abuse, counseling with LGBT, infertility, infidelity, chronic pain, sex therapy, family resilience, parenting, domestic violence, among other topics.

Dr. Cyndi is also the Clinic Director, Program Coordinator, and Counseling Lecturer at the University of North Texas at Dallas. She supervises students as they prepare to become licensed counselors. Dr. Cyndi teaches courses in multiculturalism, trauma and crisis, human development, career development, group counseling, and couples and family counseling.

Dr. Cyndi is an interactive, solution-focused therapist. Her therapeutic approach is to provide support and practical feedback to help clients effectively address personal life challenges. She integrates complementary methodologies and techniques to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each client. With compassion and understanding, she works with each individual to help them build on their strengths and attain the personal growth they are committed to accomplishing.
